The Position:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Financial Risk Accounting is responsible for managing the accounting and middle office operations related to liquidity pool, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, derivatives and swap agreements, Occupancy Costs for CUCM and 317 Donald Inc. (CUCM’s wholly-owned subsidiary regarding the ownership of 317 Donald) as well as the relating insurance and contract administration. Additional responsibilities include effectively managing departmental projects and direct reports through establishing the priority of work demands put on the team. This position works closely with the Director, Financial Reporting & Analysis with respect to developing, enhancing and maintaining the financial reporting and accounting internal controls. In addition the position is responsible for the analytics, reporting and stress testing to ensure accounting compliance with OSFI. Other key responsibilities are managing and decision making related to accounting in the operation of the treasury management system.

The Person:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • University degree along with 6-10 years of related experience coupled with an accounting designation
  • High degree of computer literacy, particularly spreadsheet applications
  • Strong and well-rounded understanding of accounting operations including accounting for investments
  • Understanding of fair value accounting, financial reporting and accounting internal controls
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience with the management of facilities issues through administration of contracts, insurance claims and any coordination of maintenance
  • Proven decision making skills in the area of financial system implementations
  • Effectively manage direct reports

The Position:

Under general supervision, is responsible for credit granting functions within the consumer and residential mortgage areas as well as for smaller less complex commercial and agricultural areas within clearly defined policies and procedures. Is responsible for interviewing members, assessing credit worthiness and underwriting loans within limits and/or recommending or declining loans based on loan risk. Supports the branch goals by providing advice, direct sales and ongoing service to members and potential members.

Qualifications (desired):

The successful candidate will be a grade 12 graduate, post secondary education preferred along with 2 years lending experience (may include 1 year loan administration) and the ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Key individual skills will include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, analytical ability, good computer skills, and ability to work effectively in a service environment.

Consideration will be given to candidates without the desired experience who would train and develop into the role.

Compensation:

A salary will be negotiated commensurate with qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. An excellent employee benefit package and variable incentive pay plan is provided.
