Successful completion of the CFP, CSC or IFIC Program would be considered an asset.

Your Role

As the Branch Manager, you will be a member of the senior management team, which will provide you with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the success of WLDCU and to play an active community role representing the credit union in the Bella Coola Valley. You will provide excellent leadership to the branch team and be responsible for managing the operation of a growing branch with current assets of $28 million.

What You Bring to the Team

Job Purpose:

The Manager, Consumer Lending will coach and motivate the Steinbach Consumer Lending team consisting of 15 Lenders and $590 million in assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales, Marketing and Promotion

  • Lead in the development of sales targets and marketing plans and support achievement of goals. Create a network of enthusiastic employees who support service excellence.
  • Create an environment where SCU members are actively seeking to increase the amount of business they choose to do with SCU.
  • Communicate product and service information to cross-sell while utilizing questioning techniques to identify business objections.

Human Resource Management

Loans Portfolio Management /Lending Services

  • Manage the overall lending function for the Consumer Lending Department of the Steinbach Branch of the Credit Union. Ensure compliance with sound business practice, legislation, regulations, by-laws, policies and procedures.
  • As a member of the management team, provide input into a broad range of credit union strategies, policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of post secondary education plus 4-6 years job related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated sales & sales team management skills,
  • Strong background in working with teams to achieve extraordinary outcomes,
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with staff through coaching and mentorship,
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and generate solutions to problems of varying degrees of complexity,
  • Superior interpersonal communication.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position plans and conducts internal auditing work for Mountain View Credit Union and other participating credit unions in Central Alberta. Responsibilities include development and delivery of audit programs that review processes, policies, operations, methods and procedures designed to reduce risk, liability and cost while increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and compliance of business units.

Specific responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • Preparing and managing annual audit schedule for several participating credit unions, ensuring that all audits are completed on time and in accordance with standard audit principles.
  • Revising the design/format of audit documentation on a continuous basis to ensure it captures the policies and procedures in effect at the time of audit.
  • Preparing and presenting the branch Audit Reports to senior management and branch management.
  • Provide reports to, and work closely with each credit union’s Audit and Finance Committee, comprised of members of the Board of Director’s.
  • Working with senior management to ensure sound systems of internal control are maintained, risks are identified and business processes are constantly improved.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities, developing and presenting specific recommendations to management and monitoring their resolution.
  • Staying abreast of current developments and emerging issues both within the credit union and in the internal auditing field.
  • Working closely with the external auditors.
  • Providing consulting services to management.
  • The role is provided general direction with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

To qualify, you:

  • Have a professional designation and at least two years of post-qualification experience along with prior audit experience. OR Have a minimum of three years experience working in or with financial institutions in an audit or related role.
  • Must have or be willing to work toward one or more of the following designations: Certified Internal Auditor, Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Business or Economics
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Excel at verbal and written communication and be able to present identified problems and facilitate problem resolution.
  • Relate well to people at all levels, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Be well organized and able to meet tight deadlines with minimal direct supervision.
  • Produce results with accuracy and a high quality of work.
  • Be proficient with MS Office applications.

The incumbent will be employed by Mountain View Credit Union (MVCU), but will also provide audit services as directed for other credit unions in Central Alberta that partner with MVCU for the internal audit function. As such, the location of the position will be determined in conjunction with the successful applicant, including the possibility of conducting work from a home office. Some travel will be required.
