The Credit Union Young Leaders of Manitoba (“CUYLM”) has launched the Manitoba Credit Union Student Bursary Contest. CUYLM is a committee of young leaders (age 40 and under) who work in the Manitoba credit union system. Details for how to enter the contest are outlined below. All eligible entries will be reviewed by a selection committee. The selection committee will establish shortlist of entries that most effectively convey the video/social media post criteria (what the student likes about credit unions and how the bursary will make a difference to them). Up to two bursaries of $2500 each will be awarded to the top candidates selected by the committee from the shortlist.
Eligibility
Contestants must follow CUYLM on social media and share their submission video or post in a Facebook or Instagram story.
Contestants must be able to provide proof of enrollment at a Manitoban post-secondary university, college or certification or have plans on attending a Manitoba post-secondary institution upon high school graduation.
Preference will be given to new and existing members of credit unions
Video/Social Media Post Content
Video or social media post must articulate what the student loves about credit unions, and the student's perspective on what makes credit unions unique, or what sets them apart from other financial institutions.
Videos or social media posts containing inappropriate language or offensive content will not be accepted.
Any materials used in the video or social media posts must be original works (except for material in the public domain).
Video content must not violate trademarks, copyrights, and/or rights of privacy or publicity; applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws. Entries containing copyrighted, branded, and/or trademarked materials without proper written permission will be disqualified.
Unless restricted by law, all videos must abide by the applicable terms of use of the social media provider or platform.
Social media video or post must remain posted until June 1st, 2021. Social media video and posts submitted only by “stories” will not qualify.
Right of Ownership & Use
Contestants relinquish all rights to the video, social media post, and any recorded interviews on submission and recognize that the video or social media post will become the property of Credit Union Central of Manitoba (“CUCM”).
Contestants agree that submitted videos, social media posts, and any recorded interviews may be posted to sites managed by CUCM, CUYLM and Manitoba credit unions.
Contest Rules
Videos and social media posts must be submitted before midnight on January 22, 2021.
The following submission process must be followed:
Create a video or social media post that conveys what you love about credit unions, and the student's perspective on what sets credit unions apart from other financial institutions, or what makes them unique.
Post and share your video or social media post to any or all platforms including Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. If using Facebook or Instagram, share your video or social media post to your story.
Your post must also include the hashtag #culearn2021 and you must tag @cuylm

After the video, or social media post has been posted per the instructions above, the contestant must also send an email to cuylm@cucm.org with the subject line “Bursary” and the following details:
i. Name
ii. Phone Number
iii. Post-secondary institution
iv. Instagram Handle, Facebook Name, and/or Twitter Handle.
v. Let us know if you're a credit union member, or are now considering becoming one.
Ten finalists of the bursary will be notified by a representative of CUYLM no later than February 15, 2021 and will be asked to attend a Zoom interview. The interview process will be used to determine the 2 winners. Winners will be notified in March, 2021.
Waiver of Liability By submitting the video, each contestant agrees to release Credit Union Young Leaders of Manitoba and Credit Union Central of Manitoba from any and all liability, whether direct or indirect, whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the video.
